The Marian Kingman Philosophy of Pine Mountain 1977 came about while she was serving on the BOT of the settlement school. Following her service as a staff member of Pine Mountain Settlement School in the early years and after a long career on the faculty at Berea College, Marian Kingman served on the Board of Trustees at Pine Mountain. As a member of the BOT she and others were asked in 1977 to submit a statement on the philosophy and objectives of Pine Mountain Settlement School as they undertood it. Her response follows:
