The 1946 PMSS Calendar is a small and very simple presentation of the exquisite engraving executed by Elisabeth Telling of a young William Creech. Telling took the image from Creech’s Civil War photograph. The image has long been an iconic image for Pine Mountain Settlement School and may be found on other promotional literature.
The engraving dominates the calendar and below the image is a very small calendar identified by “1946”. The months are intended to be torn off when completed and for this reason, very few calendars of this year have survived intact.
The back of the calendar has a sturdy cardboard flap that may be extended to allow the calendar to sit comfortably on desks. The inscriptions on the back describe the image and words used in the calendar
