January 12, 1912, H.C. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Henry C. Creech<\/a> responds to K. Pettit’s <\/a>letter to his father, Wm. Creech<\/a>. William cannot get anything from Mr. Shell and Henry suggests that someone talk with him. Henry assures Pettit that his father will be liberal in his donation to the school, as the company owns over 100 acres. He writes that they are anxious for a school.<\/p>\n

January 22, 1912, H.C. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit in Lexington, KY<\/strong><\/p>\n

H.C. Creech answers K. Pettit’s question about acreage, stating that Mr. Robb’s company owns 108 acres. He thinks the land she wants belongs to Columbus (Creech). <\/a>Both he and Columbus decided to give 25 or 30 acres to the school. He welcomes Mr. Campbell to visit and talk to Mr. Shell. He has received the Christmas presents.<\/p>\n

May 27, 1912. Wm. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wm. Creech responds to K. Pettit’s letter. He visited Mr. Shell and got nothing from him. He asks that she rely on someone younger to visit people and get subscriptions. He answers that it would be good to see people on head of Cutshin, Lion (sic)<\/em> Fork and Poor Fork. He hopes that Mr. Shell will see what is needed and change his mind.<\/p>\n

June 24, 1912, Wm Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wm. Creech responds to K. Pettit’s letter. Henry (Creech) and his son-in-law Mr. Lewis will visit people to get help for the school and lists the places the two will cover. He asks what kind of timber she wants and how far from the location she could use the timber. Henry has received some promises. A man KP wrote about examined the soil and said the land was better than he expected, containing enough coal for the school’s use for 200 years. The coal land that Henry thought could be bought now belongs to Mr. Shell, so there’s no hope of getting it.<\/p>\n

August 5, 1912, Wm. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit in Hindman, KY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wm. Creech responds to K.P.’s letter, writing that Henry and his son-in-law Mr. B.F. Lewis are working for Pine Mt. School and will send her a list of donations. He hears that Mr. Shell will give land and timber to the school. He answers\u00a0her that pine for flooring is available nearby. He did not receive the pictures from Miss Clark. Flax crop is good; plenty of seed for next year and some thread for linen.<\/p>\n

August 29, 1912. H.C. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit in Hindman, KY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Henry Creech provides K. Pettit with list of donor names, addresses, and dollar or lumber amounts.<\/p>\n

October 12, 1912, Wm. Creech in Jane, KY, to Katherine Pettit in Hindman, KY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wm. Creech responds to K. Pettit’s letter and card. His delay in writing was due to the death of Henry’s baby from diphtheria. He visited uncles and an aunt in Laurel Co. Kenneth Nolen wanted to come to Hindman. Still no pictures from Miss Clark. More donations may be coming.<\/p>\n
