INTRODUCTION: Glyn Morris Study & Recommendations [for PMSS] 1942<\/h3>\n

This “reconnaissance” study was made for several reasons. It is desirable, from time to time, to have\u00a0an overall look at the School in its relation to its constituency. No such overall look has been attempted for several years. But the present study has actually grown out of circumstances which themselves\u00a0dictated a checking up on our course. These circumstances are obvious without a study, namely<\/p>\n

(1) change in the complexion of the local scene and the subsequent necessity for adjustment of private philanthropy based on local conditions;*<\/p>\n

(2) continued decrease in the small contributions and shifts on which the School depends;<\/p>\n

(3) both of these circumstances in relation to the national scene, in time of war as well as peace, but especially in time of peace.<\/p>\n

This study, carried on along with other duties, and made by amateurs, is decidedly limited in scope. It does, however, indicate some basic factors and broad trends. It has attempted to give as complete a picture as possible, considering the limitations indicated, of the School, its constituency and its program, and to give some results, so that on reading this report an impartial observer may make fairly valid observations and evaluations. It contains also recommendations by the compiler\u00a0of the report. For this reason, parts of it are necessarily subjective, but the trained…<\/p>\n

…observer will understand this fact and can make such allowances as are required.<\/p>\n

It will be observed that in several cases there will be some slight discrepancy in total figures. This is due to the fact that some data were taken from incomplete school records and other overlapping data, collected in the community. On the whole, however, these discrepancies do not alter the basic picture.<\/p>\n
