The following information is excerpted from “Paper on Margaret Frost Twichell Mowbray Jones,” written on November 30, 2017, by David W. Babington and sent to Pine Mountain Settlement School by John D. Babington. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margaret, known as Peg, was born August 13, 1919, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Eugenia Pratt (1891-1983)<\/span> and Burton <\/span>Parker Twichell (1878-1949). She was the second of four children, the other three named David C., Harmony and Charles P. Twichell.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margaret\u2019s childhood home was in <\/span>New Haven, CT, but her family summered in Keene Valley, NY. Margaret graduated from the Milton <\/span>Academy in Massachusetts and attended Bennington College in Vermont from which she apparently <\/span>graduated in 1942. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

[After training, Margaret worked as a nurse assistant] at the Pine Mountain Settlement School <\/span>from 1942 to 1943, helping deliver babies among other duties in the School’s Infirmary<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MARGARET FROST TWICHELL Staff: After Pine Mountain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 1944 Margaret joined the American Red Cross serving as a staff assistant overseas in New Guinea and Australia for two years during World War II. While overseas Margaret met her first husband Henry Siddons Mowbray Jr (1917-1978) while he was serving with the U.S. Corps of Army Engineers in the South Pacific. Margaret returned from her overseas duty with the American Red Cross in April 1946. On June 28, 1947, Margaret was married to Henry S. Mowbray Jr at the Yale University Marquand Chapel in New Haven, CT. They had two children, a son named Burton Twichell Mowbray and a daughter Katherine Siddons Mowbray. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry Siddons Mowbray Jr <\/span>died on May 14, 1978, in Washington, CT.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margaret married her second husband, Hugh McKittrick Jones (1919-1995), an architect, on March 17, 1984.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hugh M. Jones Jr died on May 1, 1995, in Madison, CT. Margaret<\/span> died on August 13, 2008, in Connecticut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
