Members of the Wilder Family lived in the community of Pine Mountain since very early years. Bernice Wilder<\/b> – May 1945 Barbara Wilder<\/b>, freshman, was quoted in the article \u201cMy impressions of Pine Mountain At the End of Four Months.\u201d PINE CONE 1948-49, page 4.<\/span> An excerpt from her diary assignment was printed on pages 14-15 in PINE CONE 1949<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Brit Wilder<\/a>\u2019<\/b>s picture and biography are featured in the 1943 PINE MOUNTAIN FAMILY ALBUM: <\/span>Boone [Callahan<\/span><\/a>] and Brit [Wilder] were among the first students to come to Pine Mountain, and since the days when they cut \u201cpretties\u2019 for Miss Pettit with their pocket knives, they have never been far away from the active life of the school \u2026. Brit is the truck driver and superintendent of the mine. He is a grandson of Uncle William, is married to [Barbara]. a former Pine Mountain student, and has a lovely home close to the school grounds.<\/span><\/p>\n Ella Wilder, daughter Barbara and Brit Wilder. Brit and Ella worked at PMSS for over 40 years. GLADYS HILL CORRESPONDENCE<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Doris Wilder<\/b> ran for magistrate against Bish Boggs and Clarence Patterson, according to ALICE COBB STORIES \u201cFarewell Trip to Line Fork June 13, 1937<\/a>.<\/strong>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Mrs. Darse <\/b>(sic) <\/span><\/i>Wilder<\/b> was reported to have died in an administrative letter (no year, probably 1941; #053, 054) from Arthur Dodd to Glyn Morris. ARTHUR W. DODD CORRESPONDENCE.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Dorse Wilder<\/b> was one of the speakers at a church meeting in the Church of God. ALICE COBB STORIES \u201cLogging in Gabe\u2019s Branch and Holiness Service.\u201d He was a loom-maker for those who wove in their homes for the Fireside Industries, such as Tressie Wilder<\/strong>. \u201cSince he did that on rainy days and in his spare time, that brought him some extra money.\u201d WELLS RECORD PMSS 13 FIRESIDE INDUSTRIES 1913-1928<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Ella Wilder<\/b>, Barbara and Brit Wilder\u2019s daughter, was one of the group from PMSS that walked through the community to gather \u201cantiques\u201d for the 1949 COMMUNITY FAIR DAY<\/strong><\/a>. The anonymous writer of the narrative described her: \u201c<\/span>…If you know Ella [Wilder], you know what a strong silent sort of person she is. One has the feeling of still water flowing deep. There is so much behind and beyond those quiet steady eyes, and the occasional quick lighted smile. She’s like Mona Lisa.\u201d <\/span><\/i>The group visited the former home, \u201c<\/span>Rhoda Wilder<\/b>\u2019s little house,\u201d of the Wilder children, <\/span>Sally, Cindy, Brit, Kern <\/b>and<\/span> Polly<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Henry Wilder<\/b>\u2019s barn, located on Little Laurel, provided the chestnut wood for a deer carving by Henry\u2019s grandson, Gregory Adams. Gregory\u2019s mother was <\/span>Margaret (Wilder) Adams. <\/b>Director Paul Hayes had asked for the carving which he planned to display on the mantle at Big Log. PINE CONE 1948.<\/span><\/p>\n John Wilder <\/strong>owns lands adjacent to Pine Mountain Settlement School just east of the School.<\/p>\n Mary Wilder <\/b>and Emily Creech were at Sally Cornett\u2019s when Alice Cobb paid a visit. Cobb described her as \u201cSally\u2019s perfectly enormous little sister.\u201d She continued: \u201cand we sat and talked for a long time\u2026. They both knew Miss Pettit in the old days, and had so many stories. Altogether it was one of the most pleasant evenings I have ever spent.\u201d ALICE COBB STORIES \u201cVISIT TO LINE FORK<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u2026.\u2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n During a meeting of the Association of Pine Mountain School Alumni and Friends at the 1983 Homecoming, <\/span>Mildred Wilder, <\/b>wife of John Wilder,<\/b> was recognized among the kitchen help as those \u201cwho had worked so hard to feed us all.\u201d <\/span>Jack Wilder <\/b>was described as one of the \u201cold faithfuls\u201d attending the Homecoming. 1983 ALUMNI RELATIONS<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n In a 1916 letter (#7), Marguerite Butler wrote that \u201cHulda is going to cut out dresses for <\/span>Rhoda Wilder<\/b>\u2019s children. WELLS RECORD 13 FIRESIDE INDUSTRIES<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In her notes about Divide Sunday School, Alice Cobb listed the children who attended, including <\/span>Olga Wilder<\/b> (\u201ccomes now and then\u201d), <\/span>Tommy Wilder<\/b> (\u201ca bright little boy, but hard to handle in a crowd\u201d) and <\/span>Anna Wilder<\/b> (\u201cabout nine years old\u201d).
