Several were among the student body and workers at Pine Mountain Settlement School. The name has been used for the town of Wooton (Leslie County), Kentucky, and Wooton Creek as listed in the first stanza of the poem, “The Mountain Creeks of Kentucky<\/a>” by Angela Melville, a PMSS worker (1916-1920) and associate director (1928-1930).<\/p>\n Big Laurel, Turkey Fork, Oldhouse\u00a0Branch and Leatherwood Both names “Wooton” and “Wooten”\u00a0are documented in the PMSS Collections. GUIDE TO BURTON ROGERS FILES.<\/p>\n Quinten Joseph Wooton<\/strong>, a PMSS student from 1940 to 1941, was born in Wooton, KY, on June 11, 1924, to Hansford Wooton,<\/strong> a miner, and Marie<\/strong>\u00a0Iona Creech Wooton<\/strong>. He was Hetch Curtis (H.C.) Wooton<\/strong>‘s grandson. He served on reserve duty in the United States Navy in World War II. He died on October 5, 1947.
