Work continued toward permanent solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n The death of Ellen Hayes in July was a severe loss. Special gratitude was voiced for Paul Hayes, who continued to give maximum attention to Pine Mountain needs during this crisis period.<\/span><\/p>\n Alpha Sigma Tau<\/a> National Foundation presented PMSS with $14,876.05 toward purchase of a new 15 passenger van. The Alumni & Friends Association donated the remainder of the purchase price of $17,893.00.<\/span><\/p>\n Alan Sparr, long-time friend and associate of former staff members Fred<\/a> and Esther<\/a> Burkhard, presented the Burkhard Indian Artifact collection to PMSS.<\/span><\/p>\n A new split rail fence was installed at the school entrance; the PMSS sign was reworked and painted. A new paling fence was installed behind the Creech cabin<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Practice House (Country Cottage)<\/a> was renovated to create 2 apartments for E. E. personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n Library (Boys House)<\/a> upstairs rooms were fitted with displays of pictures and artifacts of the Pine Mountain valley, PMSS, and Native American heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n The Clinic’s Board of Trustees obtained a grant from Fiscal Court to upgrade that building (Hill House<\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n A water plant building was constructed near the reservoir<\/a> to house sand filters, in compliance with State regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n A wetlands sewage treatment system, consisting of two units, was constructed to handle the effluent from Laurel House<\/a>, West Wind<\/a> and Far House<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
