Board officers were re-elected: John Stephenson<\/a>, President, William Hayes<\/a>, Vice President, Springer Hoskins<\/a>, Secretary. Springer Hoskins agreed to serve as Treasurer, also.<\/span><\/p>\n

…for Pine Mountain’s future, was discussed and adopted. Committee B’s report, on Board structure, was presented for discussion; approval will be considered at a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n

The West Wind living room was dedicated to the memory of Margaret R. Motter<\/a>, former PMSS teacher, high school principal, publicity director and fund raiser at PMSS. Her nieces, Mrs. Dwight Collmus and Mrs. Sam Maples had given generous\u00a0gifts in her memory, which made West Wind improvements possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Jane Godfrey has retired from Berea College, and resigned from the PMSS Board. Five new trustees: Mr. Kermit Creech, Jr., Mrs. Ruth Shuler Dieter<\/a>, Mr. Jody Haydon, Mr. Robert Sexton and Mr. Jerry C. Troyer were elected to the Board. A night watchman is now housed on PMSS campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Renovation and restoration of Old Log House<\/a> was completed. The entire back of the building was replaced, and lifted up with replacement of floor joists. A new roof, windows with frames and a new bathroom were installed.<\/span><\/p>\n

West Wind floors were refinished, rooms and hallways painted, new beds and mattresses were installed in each room, and a new bathroom was installed on the top floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of 20 G.E.D. students, ten took the test, and 8 passed.<\/span><\/p>\n

In February the local Homemakers’ Club met one day each week to learn to spin, wind warps and weave.<\/span><\/p>\n

PMSS benefited from 2 summer workers from Community Action, 2 from Summer Youth Employment Training Program, and 1 from Job Training Partnership Act.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omeda and Walden Holbrook raised money for a 38′ flag pole, installed in front of Laurel House.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Intervention program conducted “Summer Fun” for six weeks in June & July.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Medical Botany week-end was held July 31-Aug. 2.<\/span><\/p>\n
