To Mrs. Callahan from Glyn Morris<\/a>\u00a0who reminds her that the laundry only washes blankets in the spring after school is out.<\/span><\/p>\n (31) (32) <\/b>N.D. Two-page letter to [no salutation] from K. [Katherine Pettit<\/a>]<\/b>. She is forwarding a letter from Mrs. Callahan, asking recipient to<\/span> \u201cFind out about Boone & do what is necessary to get him well.\u201d <\/span><\/i>She wonders why he isn\u2019t sent to Dr. Abell\u2019s clinic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n (33) (34) (35) (36) <\/b>N.D. Six pages of a partial letter to [no salutation, likely Miss Pettit] from [unsigned, likely Mrs. Callahan]. <\/span>(33, page 3) <\/b>(Upper half of page, is crossed off, including <\/span>\u201c…I will always do my best to accomplish more by your good counsel.\u201d) <\/span><\/i>Describes Boone\u2019s current health, which is improving. Mentions Dr. [Clark] Bailey;<\/a> Boone\u2019s low blood pressure & <\/span>(34, page 4)<\/b> weak heart. He is being urged to see Dr. Abell. <\/span>(35, page 5) <\/b>This letter is to Miss Pettit because <\/span>\u201canything Miss Pettit suggests or thinks should be.\u201d <\/span><\/i>(36, page 6) <\/b>Asks Pettit to write Boone that he should get<\/span> \u201cout for his whole month and to let his mind rest of all cares at home.\u201d <\/span><\/i>[Images are missing before and after 33-36.]<\/span><\/p>\n (37)<\/b> March 27, 1936. To Mrs. Callahan from [unsigned, possibly Morris]. Mrs. Cornett is willing to continue laundry work as long as she can; the writer appreciates Mrs. Callahan\u2019s offer to help but feels it would be too difficult for her to work and keep up her house.<\/span><\/p>\n (38) (39) (40) (41) <\/b>May 9, 1936. Four-page letter to Miss Pettit from Wanda Callahan. <\/span>(38)<\/b> (Notation at upper left: <\/span>\u201cFor response see letter to Miss Wells May 18, 1936\u201d)<\/span><\/i> Thanks Pettit for her advice; has learned Home Ec at Berea but needs to learn more. Feels that <\/span>\u201cBoone\u2019s trouble derives from having to rush back to work as soon as he has <\/span><\/i>(39, page 2)<\/b> finished his meal and having too long hours. He teaches and works all day\u201d <\/span><\/i>plus teaching at night.<\/span> \u201cThis week he is sicker than I\u2019ve ever seen him.\u201d <\/span><\/i>Wanda has<\/span> \u201chope that Dr. Abell can find the root of his troubles\u201d <\/span><\/i>and thinks he may have TB. <\/span>(40, page 3) <\/b>Tells Pettit that Boone has made a cherry table for her as a gift. <\/span>(41, page 4) <\/b>Mentions the<\/span> \u201cNew Building.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n (43)<\/b> May 20, 1936. To Mr. Callahan from Morris, who asks him, \u201c<\/span>for the next two weeks at least, that you devote all your time to the work on the new building.\u201d<\/span><\/i>; Assigns Mr. [August] Angel<\/a> in charge of repair work during this time, with Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Sheehan as helpers.<\/span><\/p>\n (42)<\/b> July 16, 1936. To Mrs. Callahan from Morris, who assigns her the responsibility <\/span>\u201cfor all the Old Log<\/a> ironing in the future,\u201d <\/span><\/i>due to an increase in the amount of laundry and also because he is<\/span> \u201cdesirous of gradually relieving the school of any responsibility for the labor involved in keeping married couples\u2026.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n (44)<\/b> August 27, 1936.
