1936<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [02] <\/strong>May 16, 1936. To Glyn A. Morris<\/a> from Chloe Smith, asking to see him soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [03] <\/strong>Postmarked from Richmond, KY, July 5, 1936. Address side of postcard to Mr. & Mrs. Morris from Chloe, who is having a \u201cgood time, working hard in my courses.\u201d<\/em> [04]<\/strong> Postmarked from Berea (KY) College Station, July 11, [indeciperable year]. Address side of postcard to Mr. & Mrs. Morris from Chloe who arrived and had classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [04a] <\/strong>Picture side of postcard showing \u201cBoone Tavern, Berea, KY.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [05]<\/strong> July 9, 1936. To Mr. & Mrs. Morris from \u201cCloa\u201d (Chloe), who gives her arrival date. \u201cI am anxious to see the kitchen and get back to work.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1937<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [06] <\/strong>June 21, 1937. To Chloe from [unsigned], who hopes to see her \u201cbefore I leave\u2026.\u201d <\/em>Tells her the School had a pea-shelling party, preparing enough for 40 or 50 cans; lots of honey. \u201cI have been making my farewell calls down the creek, and also trying to get the work all wound up.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [07] <\/strong>September 27, 1937. To Chloe from [unsigned]. \u201cBecause our children are arrested much more quickly by what we do than by what we say, I am wondering if it would not help our \u2018white cap rule\u2019 if you would wear a hat constantly while in the Kitchen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [08] <\/strong>September 28, 1937. To Mr. Morris from Dr. Clark Bailey<\/a>, Harlan, KY, certifying that Chloe Smith is \u201cfree from any infectious or contagious disease.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1939<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [10]<\/strong> July 22, 1939. To Chloe from [unsigned], who encloses a card that arrived yesterday about a \u201cred runner<\/em>\u201d and asks where to find it in the weaving room. Hopes Chloe is \u201clearning lots and lots.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [09] <\/strong>Postmarked July 26, 1939(?) from Berea (KY) College Station. Address side of postcard, addressed to Miss Fern Hall<\/a>, Pine Mountain S.S. [11]<\/strong> N.D. Handwritten note to \u201cEv\u201d (Evelyn K. Wells?) from \u201cG.M.\u201d (Glyn Morris), who had met with Chloe about her schedule; asks \u201cEv\u201d to \u201climit her teaching load to four girls and release her from Library duty at night.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1940<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [12] <\/strong>April 4, 1940. From Howard H. Ingling M.D<\/a>. on The Infirmary<\/a>, letterhead, certifying that blood tests for Chloe Smith and Hayes Bunch \u201cwere rated as negative.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [13]<\/strong> June 12, 1940. To Chloe from [unsigned], sending enclosures as requested by Mr. [Arthur] Dodd<\/a>; reports the arrival of the Angels [August and Susie Angel<\/a>] with \u201clittle Ann.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n [14] <\/strong>N.D. To Morris from Hayes Bunch, Wallins Creek, KY, agreeing to attend the Guidance Section of KEA in Louisville<\/a> on April 18. <\/p>\n\n\n\n [16], [16a] N.D. <\/strong>Two-page letter to Arthur Dodd from Chloe in Harlan, KY, responding to Dodd\u2019s letter about working at Pine Mountain. \u201cIf Hayes is drafted before school starts, Barbara Hayes and I would be interested in living at Pine Mountain. There is no place we would rather be than at Pine Mountain with my best friends.\u201d <\/em>Encloses two photos of daughter Barbara Hayes Bunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [15] <\/strong>N.D.
